Classic MNPs and Hypoglycemic Activity

  • Seaweed polysaccharides. Seaweed polysaccharides from brown algae, red algae, and green algae have significant hypoglycemic effects, can improve insulin sensitivity, promote insulin secretion, and inhibit intestinal absorption of sugar.
  • Fucoxanthin. Fucoxanthin, mainly found in brown algae, lowers blood sugar by increasing insulin sensitivity and promoting lipolysis and has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
  • Marine flavonoids. Flavonoids can exert hypoglycemic effects through multiple pathways, including enhancing insulin signaling, inhibiting α-glucosidase activity, and, reducing carbohydrate absorption.
  • Marine peptides. Marine peptides extracted from marine fish and shellfish can regulate glucose metabolism, enhance insulin secretion, and protect pancreatic cells through antioxidant effects.
