Marine Microbial Limits Testing

Marine Microbial Limits Testing

Microbial limit testing is used to assess how many and which certain live microorganisms are present in non-sterile pharmaceutical, healthcare or cosmetic manufacturing samples from raw materials to finished products. This test provides information about the safety of the product being tested by determining whether quantitative limits for certain microorganisms are exceeded. It covers the detection of bile-resistant Gram-negative bacteria as well as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium and Candida albicans. Samples are prepared by mixing parts taken at random from the ingredient or product to be tested. At CD BioSciences, marine microbial limits testing consists of two phases: a quantitative phase that covers microbial counts, giving the total number of aerobic organisms and the total number of yeasts and molds on the product. The qualitative phase is called testing for specific microorganisms. This test is designed to determine if a specific pest is present in a product.

Customer Notice

  • Before testing a product for microbial limit testing, the method must be validated to ensure that the product does not have microbial inhibitory properties that could lead to false negatives. These antimicrobial properties, if present, can be eliminated by dilution, filtration, neutralization, or inactivation prior to testing the product.
  • Experimental samples will not be returned, please back up by yourself.
  • Before sampling, a control group and an experimental group should be set up, and it is recommended to repeat more than 3 times for each group.

Why choose CD BioSciences' microbial limit testing?

  • Microbial enumeration and specific microorganism testing according to USP<61> and USP<62> procedures
  • A guide to ensuring proper testing for your specific product
  • Test total aerobic microbial count and yeast/mold count (bioburden) using multiple techniques
  • Tests for specific organisms
