Spirulina Production

Spirulina is a general term for filamentous, multicellular, blue-green microalgae, belonging to two genera, Spirulina and Arthrospira, with a total of 15 species. Chemical analysis of the Spirulina has shown that it is an excellent source of several macro and micronutrients. Spirulina contains a variety of nutrients, including fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, and K), fatty acids (DHA, EPA), beta carotene, and minerals. It is also a source of protein. This rich source of protein, vitamins, essential amino acids, dietary minerals, and essential fatty acids provides spirulina with a variety of health-promoting properties. Potential health effects include immunomodulatory, anticancer, antioxidant, antiviral, and antibacterial activity, as well as effects on malnutrition, hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, heavy metal/chemical-induced toxicity, inflammatory hypersensitivity reactions, radiation damage, and positive effects of anemia. Therefore, Spirulina is the potential active ingredient in the drug development process. And the processed products of Spirulina can also be used in agriculture, food industry, spice and medicine, and other industries.
