Marine Cold-active Enzymes Production

Marine cold-active enzymes, also known as psychrophilic enzymes, are enzymes that are derived from organisms living in cold marine environments. These enzymes have adapted to function optimally at low temperatures, typically below 20°C (68°F). Unlike enzymes derived from organisms in more moderate or higher-temperature environments, cold-active enzymes have evolved to maintain their activity and stability in cold conditions. They possess structural and functional characteristics that allow them to function effectively at low temperatures, such as increased flexibility and greater activity at lower temperatures. Cold-active enzymes have attracted significant interest in various industrial applications. Their unique characteristics make them valuable for processes that require low-temperature conditions, such as the production of certain food and beverage products, cold-water detergents, and bioremediation in cold environments. Various ingredients used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, fragrances, and pharmaceutical products are highly heat-labile, and psychrophilic enzymes are structurally flexible and can work at low temperatures, thus enabling better synthesis of heat-labile ingredients using cold-active enzymes.
