Our scientists recommend fish egg testing with zebrafish to determine the acute toxicity of water components and sewage to fish embryonic stages. During the fish egg test, four apical observations are recorded as indicators of lethality:

  • Coagulation of fertilised eggs observation
  • Lack of heartbeat observation
  • Lack of detachment of the tail-bud from the yolk sac
  • Lack of somite formation observation
