Development of Marine Oligosaccharides

Development of Marine Oligosaccharides

Marine oligosaccharides occur naturally in algae and/or are produced by hydrolysis of derived polysaccharides. Marine oligosaccharides have various biological activities, including antioxidant, antiviral and antitumor activities. The biological relevance of algal marine oligosaccharides has potential implications for numerous applications in industrial biotechnology. They have proven to be crucial in many industrial applications such as biomedical/pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, prebiotics, environmental protection, feed, wastewater management, algal biomaterials, etc. Furthermore, due to the complexity and heterogeneity of marine oligosaccharide structures, their composition and sequence analysis remains a challenging task. In order to use them effectively, more research must be done to understand the structural properties of these oligosaccharides. At CD BioSciences, our scientists have provided the structural characterization of these oligosaccharides in a more precise, reproducible and reliable manner using mass spectrometry (MS) for fine structure analysis of marine oligosaccharides from algae.

Our Services

With years of experience in marine oligosaccharides, CD BioSciences provides one-stop services for our clients, whether they need the isolation of oligosaccharides, activity testing, or structural characterization. Our services are listed as follows, but are not limited to:

  • Direct Analysis of Oligosaccharides
We can directly characterize some oligosaccharides using our ion chromatography systems. These include sucrose, cellobiose, raffinose, and melibiose.
  • Identification and Isolation of Marine Oligosaccharides
CD BioSciences offers expertise in the identification and isolation of marine oligosaccharides from different marine sources, including algae, seaweeds, and marine bacteria.
  • Structural Characterization
Our advanced analytical methods, such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS), and chromatographic techniques, allow us to determine the unique structural features of marine oligosaccharides.
  • Bioactivity Assessment
CD BioSciences conducts bioactivity assessments of marine oligosaccharides. By utilizing state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo models, we investigate their activities in areas such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, immunomodulatory, and antimicrobial effects.
