Preservation Service of Marine Microorganism

Preservation of marine microorganisms can maintain the long-term survival, stable characteristics and non-pollution of the marine strains, which is of great significance to the protection, utilization and research and development of marine microbial resources. Many methods for long-term preservation of strains have been established and developed. Generally, marine bacteria are kept in low temperature, dry, anoxic and nutrient-poor environmental conditions, and their metabolism is limited to the lowest range, so that their life activities are in a semi-permanent dormant state. And the marine bacteria can survive and do not be polluted. The existing methods of preserving marine strains are roughly divided into subculture method, suspension method, ordinary drying method, freezing method, and vacuum drying method. The types and effects of various methods are different. The preservation methods of marine microorganisms used by CD BioSciences include: slope or semi-solid passage preservation, cryopreservation and vacuum freeze-drying preservation.

Our Methods of Preservation of Marine Microorganisms

Preservation Service of Marine Microorganism
  • Slope or Semi-solid Passage Preservation
CD BioSciences uses the slant passaging method, which is the most commonly used method for the temporary preservation of marine microorganisms. The bacteria are inoculated on the slant medium, and cultured overnight at 28°C to make them grow into robust bacteria.
  • Cryopreservation
CD BioSciences generally saves 3~5 tubes of each strain, and puts them in an ultra-low temperature freezer at -80°C after cooling, which can be stored for more than 10 years.
  • Vacuum Freeze-drying Preservation
Add protective agent to the slant of the cultured strain to make a bacterial suspension, put it into a special strain freeze-drying tube, and quickly pre-freeze it to below -70°C. Then freeze-dry in a vacuum drying device to a moisture content of 1% to 2%. Seal the mouth of the tube with a flame and store at 4°C in the dark.
