Fish Embryo Acute Test

Fish Embryo Acute Test

The fish embryo acute test is designed to determine the acute toxicity of a drug in vivo in just a few days. The use of fish allows for high-throughput screening while providing predictability like adult fish and reducing animal testing. Building a cost-effective early evaluation technology for drug safety has become an urgent need in the field of global drug research and development. Zebrafish is one of the three common model animals and is an ideal model for early drug safety evaluation. Using this model to evaluate the safety of new drugs can improve the reliability and sensitivity of early drug toxicity prediction, reduce the cycle and cost of new drug development, and improve the success rate of drug development.

The scientists of CD BioSciences apply the zebrafish model in early drug safety evaluation, such as general toxicity evaluation, growth toxicity evaluation, neurotoxicity evaluation, organ toxicity evaluation, reproductive toxicity evaluation, etc. With the development of biological and medical technology, zebrafish will play a more important role in the field of early drug safety evaluation and promote the drug development process.

Our Services

The fish acute test we offer are based on research and validation activities performed on fish. The fish acute test testing has been successfully applied to a variety of compounds exhibiting different modes of action, solubility, volatility, and hydrophobicity. Our services are listed as follows, but are not limited to:

  • Zebrafish embryo acute test
  • Single substance test
  • Rainbow trout embryo acute test
  • Fathead minnow embryo acute test
  • Carp embryo acute test
  • Medaka embryo acute test

Key Features of Zebrafish Embryo Acute Test

Compared with other animal models, the zebrafish toxicity test has the following advantages:

  • Relatively low cost.
  • The experiment process is fast, and the required time is short.
  • Zebrafish eggs can be produced in large quantities, making it easy to perform high-throughput screening experiments.
  • Easily determine mechanisms of toxicity at the cellular and molecular levels.

Method Description

Embryos will be incubated with 5 different concentrations of the molecule of interest at intervals of a constant factor 10 from 0 to 96 hours post fertilization (hpf). A convenient, rapid, and cheap acute toxicity test method will be established by our scientists.

Why use our fish embryo acute test?

  • Cost-effectiveness.
  • Highly predictive of acute toxic effects of drugs in humans.
  • Alternative experimental methods to reduce animal testing while assessing in vivo toxicity.
  • Works with a broad range of compounds regardless of mode of action, volatility, solubility, and hydrophobicity.
