Red Algae Culture

Red algae have no roots or leaves, but it can survive in deeper oceans than any plant. Red algae get the color from a pigment called phycoerythrin, whose red color masks the color of chlorophyll. The reproduction of red algae produces spores and heterogametes. Except for some species, most of them have the phenomenon of alternation of generations. Red algae have a wide range of applications such as in human food, animal feed, biofertilizers, algal colloids, cosmetics, bioplastics and pharmaceuticals. In recent years, the demand for red algae in various fields has grown rapidly. CD BioSciences provides professional red algae cultivation services. CD BioSciences has many years of experience in red algae cultivation. Client groups we have worked with over the years include groups that lack cultivation facilities, non-professional algal biology researchers, and groups that require large amounts of algae but have low success rates.

Our Red Algae Culture Methods

  • Onshore cultivation
Land cultivation methods have the advantage over marine cultivation systems to accommodate a wide range of algae genera and forms, and are suitable for all (except the largest) algae.
  • Offshore cultivation
Offshore seaweed farming is carried out in sufficient space, nearshore areas.
  • Nearshore cultivation
Inshore farming is the most well-known and widely used seaweed farming technique and can be developed in estuarine and near-coastal areas.
  • Integrated multitrophic aquaculture cultivation (IMTA)
IMTA models are characterized by rearing species at different trophic levels from one close to the other.
  • Saline aquaculture
Saline aquaculture is land-based aquaculture that utilizes saline groundwater.
